recap: Carina + Karim’s Wedding @ Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney

I recently played live acoustic music as a soloist for Carina and Karim’s beautiful wedding ceremony and canapes break at The Calyx at The Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney. What an amazing venue! And playing music while being surrounded by the most nourishing backdrop of plants and flowers was an absolute joy.

Laura & Agostino’s Ceremony and Reception at Doltone House, Sydney NSW

Agostino and Laura’s beautiful wedding ceremony was held at Metcalf Park in Pyrmont and the reception at Doltone House, Darling Island. The city skyscrapers and boats in the harbour made a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony and canapes.

Gemma & Daniel @ Centennial Homestead, Sydney NSW

Gemma and Daniel congrats! You guys were an absolute pleasure to work with and we were so honoured you chose us to play music on your wedding day. We wish you all the very best for your life together.

Their beautiful ceremony was held at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Paddington and the reception at Centennial Homestead in Centennial Park, Sydney.

I played solo acoustic music live for the ceremony, then Jake and I played as an acoustic duo so guests could enjoy live music during canapés and through dinner. Jake was MC and we both DJ-ed for the second part of the reception.

There is something really special about being involved in a wedding from start to finish. We create a relationship with guests and the bride and groom and feel part of the wedding and we absolutely love this. We intuitively tap into the mood and flow of the evening and work that into how we play and MC.

Rieteke & Max’s Wedding at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney

The ceremony for Rieteke and Max’s beautiful wedding was held at McKell Park, at Darling Point overlooking Sydney Harbour. I played music solo for the ceremony and then Jake and I played an acoustic duo set at The Royal Botanic Gardens while guests enjoyed drinks and canapés by the pond.

We moved up into the main reception room at The Botanic Gardens Restaurant just before the bride and groom and the rest of the bridal party made their entrance and as they settled in we played more acoustic live music as a duo through dinner and up until speeches. Then after speeches we switched to DJ for the rest of the evening.

What a month..

October is typically our busiest month and what a cracker it was! Jake and I played music (live and DJing) at six beautiful weddings around NSW and were involved in Mindfully Wed – a small community of conscious, ethical and environmentally aware suppliers within the wedding industry.

I played under Citadel at Mind Body Spirit Festival in Sydney and continue my regular Monday night 8pm yin and live music class at Power Living Yoga, Manly.

Larissa McKay Music is very excited to be a part of Mindfully Wed, Sydney. It is a wedding expo for conscious couples. It is run by Less Stuff More Meaning and features various vendors that are socially, environmentally and emotionally aware, with a focus on relationships.
